16  Main Forum / General Discussion / Re: Where can I rent a Phoenix Cruiser on: March 29, 2014, 11:18:12 am
Thanks guys. This summer we are renting a class C to do just what 2 Frazzled did. I'm just hopeful that the well known problems of rental rigs won't turn my wife off. Ron Goodspeed was kind of enough to show us his old 2551 and we will be going to see his new 3100 soon. We will also be checking out a 2900 that is close by. And finally we are planning a trip to Hersey at the end of this summer to make a final decision. I've followed this thread for a while and like these units a lot. I especially like the strong loyalty voiced here and the customer service that Phoenix demonstrates. Plus Aimee and I have become good FB friends and seem to have similar musical taste! So we are narrowing our search. I like PCs because of the above mentioned items and their obvious quality. The other rig I like is the THOR ACE 29.2 for it's floor plan and and extremely attractive price. It was built to a price point though and it shows in certain areas.

Thats all well and good Ron but I cant find anyone here in New England that is willing to let their precious baby out of their sight! You guys hold on to these rigs like they were made of gold. But I'll keep looking! Hint Hint.

Thank you all for the comments. They reinforce what I have come to believe after spending some time on this forum over the past year. We will just need to get inside some more of all types of MH. We did like the floor plan of that ACE 29.2 but the quality and durability was suspect. The cost difference is substantial though. We keep a close eye on the used market here too. I am reminded of one of my custom builder clients though. A home buyer was complaining about the cost of a custom staircase the builder quoted. The builders response was, "Do you want all the nails or just some of them?" Jim we will be in touch.

I find it interesting that the difference in price between a 3100 and a 2552 is minuscule. Comparably equipped with the options I wanted it was about $400. The difference seemed to be a little more money for full body paint on the larger 3100. Shows you just how popular that 2552 has become. What I am also wrestling with and could use the groups help in my search and education is the cost difference between the PC and a few of the smaller Class As like the THOR ACE 29.2. If what I see for negotiated pricing in the RV forums is correct they can be had for about 70 to 75 thousand. A pretty huge savings from the PC. We visited a ACE at the dealers the other day and were impressed with the layout. Not so impressed with the single pane windows and thin walls. Good insulation is important to me for sound and heat living here in the great white north. Especially this year! -4 this morning at my house. So any thoughts you would like to share. Our education and search will go on for a while yet. Planning a visit to Hersey this fall to actually get in some of these and see how they feel. We are on the 14 month plan.

Keep in mind the higher altitudes might be a bit too nippy.

Alabama has "higher altitudes"? This NH boy would have never guessed. After three major snow storms in the last week all of our peaks are about 5 feet taller! Today our Mt Washington is a balmy 15 degrees with 60 mph winds. Enjoy Alabama.

Bad weather? This is a normal winter for NH. We have a saying here. There is no such thing as bad weather. Just poor clothing options.

Where can I find a schedule of RV shows? Especially the ones PC will be at. Getting closer!

This new to RV person would definatly like a written printed manual to read through. Maybe two. One specific to the Phoenix, and another general RV for Dummies book.

Based on your last trip is it worth it to tow a car behind or just drive the PC?
27  Main Forum / General Discussion / Re: Weather Tech Floor mats on: June 17, 2013, 02:57:47 pm
I have Weathertech mats in two of my cars and love them. I've tried cheaper mats but they just didn't work with our NH winters. The Miata doesn't have them but its off the road from December to April.

"The Cape Neddick Lighthouse stands on Nubble Island about 100yd (90m) off Cape Neddick Point. It is commonly known as Nubble Light or simply The Nubble. Cape Neddick Point is at the north end of Long Sands Beach in the village of York Beach. The lighthouse is inaccessible to the general public, but the nearby mainland is occupied by Sohier Park which offers a telescope with which to view the lighthouse and a gift shop with a "Nubble" theme."

I wish this forum had a LIKE button, because I'd hit it about 10 times for this thread! Am I a little strange in that I don't have a PC yet, but when shopping for a new car I bought a Honda CRV mainly because it could be towed 4 down! Congrats guys and Jackie and I hope to be joining you all soon.  ThumbsUp
