Stay as far away from Timberland Lake Campground as you can.  Muddy, tight, narrow, tree's not trimmed or cut for clearance, 3 grand later ...................
3  Main Forum / General Discussion / Re: TOWING- cargo trailer on: June 24, 2014, 01:15:39 pm
My experience with a U-Haul cargo trailer was that it did have brakes if only surge brakes.  One quick stop in Columbus rush hour traffic made me a believer in U-Hauls equipment, I could feel the trailer braking and it probably helped prevent a collision.  It was one of their 12' box trailers with side opening doors (a request by me) and I did not realize the brake situation until I picked it up, appeared to be standard on all I saw in that length. Even their car dolly's appear to have surge brakes. The stinger and ball I got from them (as cheap as wallly world) and was a 2 5/16 ball. I did have to get a wiring modifier from Nissan to standard - they had one.

Makes me wonder if they have the same expenditure for test equipment that Ford does, as pertains to torque limits of components other than engine (making torque, HP, heat) and transmission (having to deal with increased torque, heat, etc.).

Kinda reminds me of years ago when we sub'ed THM350's for THM400's behind the big block Chevy's because we could and they fit and were cheaper, results didn't bear out the experiment.  Then it was back to Caddy THM400's because we could put more clutch packs in them.  Glad I am not a hot rodder today.

I have had the rubber seal in the extender become stuck on the valve stem and not stay in the extender and get knocked off and lay on the ground until I found it and wondered where it came from. Flat tire then made me rethink reusing extenders but check the seal is in place solves that most times.

Our retired folks cafe is replacing the 48"s as needed and I am pretty impressed with the light output.
7  Main Forum / General Discussion / Re: Transmission Clunk when shifting between Reverse and Park on: March 28, 2014, 07:26:49 pm
I think what Ford is trying to point out with the "lash" is parking on any any grade will pretension a very long drive shaft (drive train?) and universal joints with only the parking pawl to hold it.
I would try setting the parking brake and then putting in park and then by taking it out of park first and then releasing the parking brake and see if that relieves the clunking noises.

For what it's worth my wife's Audi-Quattro does it too, for those same reasons (lots of lash in the system), but have not been able to re-train, fortunately I don't get in that roller skate often.

I don't know for sure about the PC but a class A instructions I had said "continuous on  as long as there was water in the tank(s)".  The A also had elbow heaters all the way to the valves and I did not leave them on, preferring to dump at the end of stay vs leaving valves open and elbow heater on.  I did get in trouble with frozen valves once and had to stand down until the elbow heaters warmed fluids enough to allow valves to open and then dumping.

I bought the HP not long ago and wish now that I had gotten a screen interactive model like my S-4 phone.

I am not too comfortable with cat heaters in a confined space - hope they are in fact ceramic heaters.  Other than that pretty much what Bob said.

You know what causes it. PC has some unprotected screws right in that area and if you pull the hose it punches a hole into the hose.
Can't remember how I fixed it.

The "bushing" that the hose passes through to storage had two sheet metal screws within a half inch of the hose on mine.  I changed to machine and nylocks.

Nice - we are looking back at dp A's too - hard to find comparable quality to the PC - I have passed on 8 to 10 that were at my price point but not in my quality range.  Just too picky after the PC I guess.
