1  Main Forum / General Discussion / Do we need undercoating? on: October 27, 2017, 03:22:05 pm
Another question from future owners: we're taking delivery of our 2552 in April and heading through northern Canada cto Alaska in mid-May.  We'll be about 5 months on the road.  This will be our second trip; the first was in our Dodge 3500 with a Lance truck camper, and we accumulated lots of the gravel/lava/mud mixture under the truck and in the wheel wells.  Once it set up, there was no way to get it off.

We now live in TN, so were not planning to get the undercoating.  The question is: do we need the undercoating to protect our brand new coach from the northern roads?
2  Main Forum / General Discussion / Tailor-made sheets from ABLifestyles on: October 25, 2017, 08:21:38 am
I can sew and found some hints for tailoring bedsheets on this forum, but haven't had much luck in the past.

We took a recommendation from the forum and ordered custom-made waterproof mattress covers and sheets for our 2552 (with two long beds) from ABLifestyles in South Carolina.  They specialize in making bedding and accessories for campers and RVs.  We looked online, ordered on the phone and received the sheets one week later.  Cost for two beds worth of mattress pad, fitted sheet, flat sheet, and pillow case was $280.  We just ordered our PC, so haven't slept on them yet, but they feel good.

If you want to give them a try:  ablifestyles.net, 800-825-4533. They are located in Iva, SC.

We took a three month trip from TN to AK via the Rockies (Tetons north) and the Alaska Highway using a Lance truck camper and Dodge 3500, so we upsized to a PC.  Even with the truck, there were times when we hesitated to leave it at a trailhead when we wanted to hike or wanted to take off in the evening, but didn't want to unhook everything at the campsite.  For the next trip, we're towing a medium-size motorbike in a small closed trailer, hoping that will give us the flexibility we need.
4  Main Forum / General Discussion / CPAP Shelf? on: October 01, 2017, 08:54:28 am
We are in the process of buying a 2551 and going to the factory next week.  (Whoopee!) We've been reading through all the Tips and Tricks and other ideas, but haven't found an answer to our question.  My husband uses a CPAP machine, and will be sleeping in the longer (passenger side) bed.  He will need to plug in the machine and would like to be able to reach it to turn on and off without getting out of bed.  Putting it on the floor is tricky, since I do get out of bed at night to visit the bathroom.  Putting a shelf over the head of the bed seems like an invitation to whacking his head every time he sits up.  Any suggestions for things we could ask Earl?

Any other suggestions for newbies who are buying their first PC?

Please tell the folks at the rally that we (hopeful future PC owners) are lurking here, looking for great used PCs, especially 2551/2552s.  Have fun y'all!
