We use hookless hangers.
www.hooklesshangers.com
they work great for us. They have different strengths. Check them out.

We use regular plastic hangers that we found at Walmart ($1.17 for ten). Never have had a problem with anything falling off.
By the way, Welcome to the Forum! We plan on visiting your area of the world late next summer--hope it is not too hot. Our daughter lives in Phoenix about a mile from the Scottsdale city limits so after Colorado, the Grand Canyon and Flaggstaff, we will head South! Beautiful part of the country---

We also use the plastic hangers from Walmart and have never had a problem. I sometimes intermingle these with the hangers I get when buying at Kohls or other stores. We have been on some rough roads and have not experienced any falling off.

Thanks for all the help we'll go to Walmart, is there more than one design of hanger we should get?
To answer the question about the weather in AZ in the summer, it VERY VERY hot, 100 to 115.

The reason for the hookless is it eliminates the space between the rod and ceiling also the space the "hook" takes up, so most all clothes do not drag on the bottom of the closet!

Ozzie & Ben
The ones that we use are from Walmart that look like this:
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Mainstays-Tube-Hanger-White-10pc/19611919
Since we bought these I see that they now have some that actually have a non slip hanger so the clothes grip to the hanger as shows here:
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Mainstays-Non-Slip-Suit-Hangers-5pk/16565371
However, our clothes have never fallen off the hanger and our hangers have never fallen off the rod.
Just thinking if you want you could buy something like a swim noodle, cut it to length and slip it over the rod the keep the hangers in place. Have never tried it but might be a cheap solution.

PC-USA must have changed the closet hanger system since our days in 2007. We have the design where each hanger slips through it's own slot. I can't say that we like it, but I don't think the clothes would fall off the rod even in a roll-over, ha, ha.
I really like what Billy presented. I may invest in them.
BTW: Welcome Ozzie & Ben!
