Grocey stores on the west cost are eliminating plastic and paper bags to save money. We purchased 4 items today and the paper receipt was 17" long, go figure!

No Billy, they are eliminating them to help the environment. Our county is doing the same thing. Now it costs 5 cents for a bag if you don't bring your own. I'm a tree hugger so I am good with that...except that the memory is not cooperating so I keep leaving all those wonderful reusable bags in the car. I truly miss my brain.

You are right Billy, that is just plain crazy.
I wonder how long it will be before we start hearing about the reusable bags being some kind of health problem. You know like putting chicken in the same bag that was used for beef or not washing the bags after each use or something like that.

Sorry Billy, my fingers don't always type everything my brain is trying to say. Those massive receipts probably MAKE money for the store. The ones I get have ads and coupons on them so somebody is paying the store to print all that stuff and give it to you (no way they can claim environmental reasons on those). Reusable bags probably cost them more money in time for the cashiers. Have you watched those poor people try to bag groceries using the customer's wad of miscellaneous bags? I try to organize and make it easy on them but my wad of reusable bags is just as much a PIA as the other guys... when I remember to take them in. AND they all seem to have a collection of looong receipts in the bottom - go figure!

Reusable bags are good because they help prevent early onset Symptamatic Hemotological Intoxopharmia Syndrome (S.H.I.T., for short), which is contracted through inhalation of Cellulosic contamination and mold when hugging trees. Didn't you ever wonder why parasites grow at the base of many trees?  Wink

I really don't mind buying a bag or four but what just bugs the heck out of me is I keep forgetting them in the car. Or let's see maybe its six bags?
