I'm looking at a 3100, but am concerned about dragging the rear end when backing into my driveway. I have a dip between the road and driveway. Should I expect problems with the 3100 (or 2910)? Thanks for any replies!

I believe PC does a better job of engineering the clearance on departure angles than most but I still occasionally drug the threaded portion of the hitch ball below the nut, til I finally ground it off with a grinder, only once after that, out West going into a filling station in an area that did not have storm drains, just deeper gutters.

I would install those affordable yet very capable Firestone airbags that RV people always talk about. Set it up the cheapest & easiest way so each bag has it's own air valve. This way if your rig leans to the left or the right due to your load, you can level it out as well as lift the rear up. If you are buying a new rig, have the factory include this in your order. They are good about adding such things.
Adding: I was actually thinking of installing them on our 2350 but concerned of a rougher ride from them. I would like a little extra posterior ground clearance because our E350/2350 does seem to sit an inch or two low in back when on trips. A little higher would be a little better.

Hi Shipper and welcome.
You say you are looking at the 3100, but your profile says 2100.
As for dragging the rear on a 3100 only you and your driveway know the answer to that. I have not heard of a lot of complains from other owners dragging the rear. I once knew a lady that would drag the rear of her trailer on her driveway. She ended up putting some boards in the gutter to lift the rear. The driveway next door has a deep dip and all the trucks and some cars drag.
Before adding to your suspension, I would call and talk to Kermit at the factory. i was thinking about changing my suspension until I talked to him.

We no longer own a PC. We had two of them and loved them both. Due to changing health and no longer camping, we wanted a touring coach. Phoenix does not make a class B so we had to turn to a Winnebago Travato 59K in March 2018

We have a 2013 2910 and I can honestly say that we have not had any problems with rear end drag. Tom is correct--if you talk to Kermit, he will answer any concerns that you might have.
The 2910 is our 3rd PC. We find that the ride is MUCH better than our other two and those Euro chairs are so comfortable!!!

I have yet to drag once with my 3100 and I have been in some tough spots with the coach. I would be very hesitant about changing anything regarding the rear suspension and would listen to what Kermit might suggest. I am very impressed with the general weight distribution and engineering that obviously went into the 3100 chassis set up. The 3100 handles much better on the road compared to my 2551S that I just never could get quite right. The longer wheelbase I think is the biggest asset to better handling. Thanks, Ron

The longer wheelbase I think is the biggest asset to better handling. In total agreement. I wonder if the suspension upgrades always discussed (HD stabilizer bars and all) would change "Good Handling" into "Great Handling". Has anyone with longer PCs (say a 2700 and longer) done such upgrading? It would be interesting to read your thought on your experience.

ron:
Done it all, Roadmaster front and rear sway bars, Bilstien shocks all around and installed a steer safe. Yes, I have noticed improvement in the 3100's ability to handle corners much flatter and at higher speeds and the Bilstiens helped in ride quality. Was it all worth the investement? I would say it has made for a safer coach and therefore worth the dollars but certainly not like a 60% improvement in the total package, perhaps a 30% improvement is more realistic. Did the same to my 2551S and did not notice much change at all, always seemed light in the front end, like the E-450 was to much chassis for the coach.

Interesting! For our PC2350 on 2007 E350, it made a world of difference....worth every penny.
There are many influential factors which changes opinion dramatically from one owner to another.
