Just curious as to what owners are experiencing in fuel mileage with their V10 on the 2350.  Most of us keep track of our fuel consumption.

Bob, usually easy math with my 2350 -- 200 miles = 20 gal.  Smile.        (No toat)

Saying that, I can also add that driving 65 with no wind or hills makes for difficult math or around 11 or better.
Conversely, hills and wind can pull it down to 9.

This maybe a question for another topic, but have anyone noticed different fuel mileages obtained from no ethanol or lower octane regulars?  I got some of my best mileage in august when traveling Wyoming, when even climbing mountains using low octane regulars, that I don't believe contains any ethanol.  Anyone else noticing that?

Of course, Ethanol has a lower heating value. So when they add it you get less gas mileage.

I used to have a 2551 on a E350 chassis. In 30,000 miles I averaged 10 mpg.

Now with my 2552 on a E450 chassis I get 9 mpg, which was predictable from the change in rear end gear ratio.

On our last trip,, varied from 9.8 to 11.2,,,(pen&papaer) Houston to Vegas, Zion Park, Grand Canyon, home, No actual genie use, exercised it once.  Just purchased a Scan ii so will be excited to test it out,   Will be able monitor speed differences better I hope.  We normally drive in the 66/68mph,,, unless we started getting a significant mpg result 2/3mpg will probably not adjust our mph,,, the only way to get that would be to go to the 50ish mph ,,, I'm sure most of you can remember the oil embargo 70's when we had to drive 55,,, man I hated driving in those days, would take for ever to get any where, ouch

Any experience with higher octane gas?  Many years ago, I put premium in my Class A in error.  Got two MPG better.  Never willing to spend the extra try it on purpose.

The reason I was curious as to the fuel mileage on the 2350 with the Ford V10, is because on the first 2552 on the E450 and the V10, we were averaging 5.3 to 6 MPG at 55 to 60 MPH.  All Interstate, no mountains and no towing.  Mileage verified with a Scan Gage and checked with computer.  Ford said the 5.4, V8 should get better mileage.

I keep accurate pencil & paper records.  Trip averaging over the course of entire trips as follows.

2007 E350-V10 chassis, 2007 PC-2350 (no slideout) burning octane 87 (per owners manual) except at high altitude when 85 is sold.

Trip #1, over 5000 miles driven, 9.5 mpg, towing 2100 pound vehicle
Trip #2, near 4000 miles driven, 9.2 mpg, towing 4300 pound vehicle
Trip #3, over 5500 miles driven, 10.6 mpg, not towing anything



All trips originated near Chicago with destinations out west in canyon or mountain regions so there is significant driving on the flats through the Great Plains.

Bob, Your side banner profile data is confusing.  Please clarify your history with PC model & chassis ownership and your experience with each.  You imply ("on the first 2552") you are on your second PC, maybe first owning a 2552-V10 and now maybe a 2551?.

I heard as a rule of thumb, assuming the V8 is not being over-worked, it should get 10% better fuel economy over the V10.  For us with our 2350, that would be about 1 mpg better.  But I do wonder if the V8 will be over-worked if towing or if in the larger PCs.  I feel the V8 would be ideal for the 2100 and 2350 if never towing.

I've put about 3000 miles on our 2552 and the mileage ranges from about 7.8 to 9.5.  In stop and go driving, it's much worse.  It seems that once you get over 55, the gas mileage drops very, very quickly.  However, going 50 to 55, we never seem to get to where we are going.  I usually cruise between 62 and 65 mph.  According to the scan gauge, I get about 18-20 mpg going downhill and about 5 to 6 going uphill.  I'm trying to figure out how to arrange our trips so we are always going downhill.  Mark

     Just got back from a 5488 mile trip from Peoria, Ill to Tillamook, OR. down to LA, CA along the coast and back to Peoria through Denver, CO. Using 677.39 Gal. of fuel. Ended up with a 8.102 MPG. I have the PC3100. Going from 7.3 to 9.0 MPG. with a lot of stop and go, and up and down, got to 15 feet below sea level and and high as 11567 feet above sea level. at the 11000 ft mark I was only going 35 MPH, most of the highway driving was 55 to 65 MPH, CA limit towing to 55.
I was towing a 2007 Ford Focus. Just to let you know

Ron,
My side banner profile was established before there was an actual designated 2552 and they made one for us.   PC actually put on our order paperwork that the designation at the time was a 2551 Special. PC established the designation of 2552 after the fact. I put in the 2552 as our unit.  Never had a 2551.  They lengthened a 2551 by one foot so we could add the third Captains chair behind the passenger seat. To those that are looking at the website for possible purchase of a PC, they lengthened the coach by one foot and that means the floor, roof and side walls so we could have an extra Captains chair.  Not only do you change the physical structure, but you now have to change wiring, plumbing, etc. to fit the new structural modifications.
    This was a trade up from our 2350 where we started the third Captains chair behind the passenger for our Granddaughters car seat.   
     They did this just for a customer and I do not believe Winnebago would, or any other RV manufacturer would. 
    I do appreciate the inputs this question generated like "the hills in Florida are only the overpasses(Tom)".  A little levity is good.

Pax(Mike),
     Glad you like the design.  According to PC it has become the best seller.  Something else I did was to install 3.5 inch high, matching wood sides around the shelf beside the bathroom sink and cut some non-skid material for the  counter top.  Now we can leave hand cream and other items out and not worry about them sliding around, or falling off.  I also used the velcro tape that comes in rolls and adheres to itself to secure the bottom section of the rear ladder to the top section.  After folding it up I wrap the velcro around at least two times, tightly, to make sure there is no chafing and the ladder is secure.  Now the ladder is available when needed but is not in the way of getting in to the rear compartment.
