Can the right mirror be extended out further? I have to lean way forward in order to see down the right side of the unit.

Jim
I had the same problem when we picked up our unit. The side view mirrors can be adjusted but not extended. The mirror needs to be rotated on the extension arm a little. There is a wrench enclosed with the mirror documentation that is used to make a coarse adjustment outside at the mirror. Then you use the power switch on the inside to fine tune the mirrors.

I was able to simply grab the mirror housing and with a little encouragement, move it to get a better view. Then like Barry says, fine tune with the controls inside.
But, the only way the extend the arms is to replace them with longer ones.

Jim,
There are 2 set screws that hold the mirror in position. Back out the set screws a little and reposition the mirror. Once the mirror is in the correct position secure the 2 set screws. This is a safer way to adjust the mirrors without extra force.

Just for info: The mirror is moved, removed or relocated during the paint process. When we picked up our unit I was into Chicago when I realized the mirror housing was actually moving. I stopped and called PC and they told me about the special wrench that is in the packet. Found it, adjusted the mirror and tightened. No further problem. Bob

Thanks for the input. Yeah, I did the thing with the screws but it just needs to be extended about 2 inches. I just wonder if I can attach another type of mirror to this one and get a better view. I had a Winnie and Sunseeker, didn't have this problem. Maybe the different type of mirrors.

There are two arm lengths for the mirrors, the standard for 102" wide motorhomes and the short for 96" wides. When I bough my 2010 2350 it came with the standard ones. The arms where twice as long as the short ones. I called the mirror manufacture and they told me about the differences. Carol ordered a set for me and I installed them. The difference was a saving of about 12" in with. I reported it here and after that everyone ordering a new PC wanted the short arms. So Phoenix made them standard.
If your old motorhomes was a 102" wide you probley had the standard arms and will soon get used to the shorter arms. The next time you are driving in a construction zone you will notice how nice they are.

We no longer own a PC. We had two of them and loved them both. Due to changing health and no longer camping, we wanted a touring coach. Phoenix does not make a class B so we had to turn to a Winnebago Travato 59K in March 2018

For visual reference, my 2007 PC shown here has the longer mirror arms.

I stand corrected. I reduced the width by 9" not 12". Do a search for "I reduced my overall width" and by "tomhanlon" to see my orignal post about my mirror change.

There is one other item that makes the right side harder to see around. If you did not have the awning arms, which protrude out from the coach 4 inches, you view would be less obstructed. Thought about not getting an awning because my area to back into beside our house is quite tight and the awning arms make it tight. Without them it would a lot easier, but wife wants the awning. Bob

Mike, I saw a Phoenix with the side view cameras at the Rally last year. They were mounted on the truck fenders. I thought they looked very cool but wasn't sure how well you could see around the wings of the Phoenix let alone the awning rail. I would think mounting them high on the widest part of the motorhome would make more sense but I really don't know how they work. Does anyone on the forum have them? If so, care to weigh in on how much they help?
I've also seen those "attachment" mirrors for trailers that you hook onto the existing mirror somehow. It sticks out another 6 or 8 inches. While it might look dorky, it could be helpful if you are expecting to be traveling through a lot of traffic. I haven't looked into those yet either, I just saw them in ads.
I would never give up our awning. There have been many times that little shade over the open windows was all that made it bearable (and often quite comfortable) when we are forced to camp in full sun. We love sitting out under the awning enjoying the cooler air in the shade.

For me, the shorter mirrors work out fine enough. What I generally want to see more than I can right now is where traffic is located in the lanes next to me, but farther back. Like a truck or fast moving car when I'm planning a lane change.
I've read that many of those 'attachment' type mirrors, due to how they are mounted, vibrate or bounce enough to make them a less than attractive option....(hard to see stuff when the mirror is shaking)
The huge awning is one of our favorite things about the PC. One of the folks who was shopping for PC's and came to look at our rig was wondering if the factory could install an awning without the supports/rails along the side of the rig. Apparently he had previous rigs without the supports and preferred them.

PC used to install the box awning before switching to the electric ones. The box has arms that fold up into the box. When you crank it open you lower the arms to the brackets on the side if motorhome or the ground. I don't know what the max length is on the box awning.
