New water heater installed
« on: May 18, 2014, 06:40:42 am »
Had my new water heater installed on Friday, now I have the chore of trying to put the cabinet back together.
The new Atwoods come with a pipe on the back that allows a hook up to the engine. This pipe has got to go, I  cannot  reassemble the cabinet wall with it there.  Hopefully it'll be done today.

Must be ready to go, as we are for Wells Maine for the week.

Is the purpose of that pipe to use the engine heat (radiator water) to heat up the coach water?

Yes it is Mike .... The installer told me that it is something that Winnebago came up with. And that this model is the unit used to replace the water in my 2008 2350

My dad has a sixteen or seventeen year old Coach House and his engine heats the water. I believe he can also heat with propane, not sure about electric. I assumed the Class B's all did that but don't know for sure.

My old 2004 Winne class A had engine heat for the water heater and the floor heat. The water heater also worked on LPG and electric. The floor heat was nice, kind of like the dash heat but only coming out of the first floor vent. Both worked if it was not too cold. I must say I don't really miss them. Since we mainly stay in campgrounds with electric, we turn on the electric water heater the day before we leave to heat the water and turn it off when we get back home. I only turn on the LPG to test it every now and then.

Posting this picture of the new water heater back and the pipe mentioned earlier. This pipe protrudes about 1.25 inches and was remove in order to put the cabinet back together
