A highway patrol officer was on his way home after a long, tiring day when a speeding car passed him.  Giving in to his sense of duty, he turned on his lights and chased the car.  After pulling the car over, he said to the driver: I've had a long day, I'm tired and want to get home.  If you can give me an excuse for speeding that I haven't heard before, I'll let you go.  Thinking quickly, the driver said: my wife ran off with a highway patrol officer last week, and I thought that you were him trying to give her back.  The highway patrol officer said: have a nice day.
