In thinking about my upcoming rail trip in Canada, it brought up something interesting that happened to us on our last RV trip.  Coming back accross the border from Canada south of Lethbridge, we were in a fairly long line of cars and trucks waiting to enter the USA.  We were flagged over out of line and asked if we minded having our rig xrayed, which would move us through much faster.  We said no and we positioned ourselves inside an archway with the cab just through the arch.  They then had us roll slowly through and after a moment to review their industrial xray results, they thanked us and sent us on our way.  The border guy referred to this as "our tax dollars at work."  I'm sure they were looking for images of human skeletons and firearms.  It was MUCH faster than our previous walk throughs of the interior at the border.  Just wondered if this was commonplace at many crossings and if some of you all had this experience?

We've gone through those monitors in Texas, New Mexico and Arizona along I-10.
