To the owners of the 2551 and 2552 what are you doing for bedding for the odd size twin beds? We figure we will use sleeping bags, how about you?

Thanks

There are a number of websites for companies that make custom mattress pads and fitted sheet sets for non standard mattresses.  I have a set on my 2551 and love them.  My wife took a king size comforter we weren't using and cut it in half and hemmed it for bedspreads.  I've used Travasacks before on other motorhomes and they're just not as comfortable as real fitted sheets.

Dale and Claire

Here is a link to a post that shows how we took care of the bedding for our 2551.  You will need to be loged in to view pictures.  Let us know if you have any questions.

I posted this when we ordered our 2552. "Now we are trying to figure out the sheets from two different company's. Amanda sent us to bedderbedding.net and this forum sent us to ABLifestyles.net. We are looking for custom sheets to fit theses new beds." We ended up ordering from ABLifestyles.net. We ordered two colors so we can tell which fits the short bed and which fits the longer bed. We also got two pillow cases for each bed. The sheets are on the expensive side but they fit and are a long term investment.

we started with the standard size sleeping bag and did not like it. Sooooooo we purchased over size sleeping bags and love-um. warm and cozy, lots of room.

I don't know of any motor home with beds made to the same standard as beds in housing.  Twin, Double, Queen, King, they are all scaled down.  Buying a replacement mattress must be a bit of a challenge.

Ron, our 2003 Winnebago had a 60x80 queen bed, which is the standard size for a queen. We used the same sheets as our house.

Interesting.  I stand corrected.

I do think that is the exception rather than the rule.  How do the PC twin, double, and queen beds compare to domestic sizes?

Just a little FYI for anyone traveling or living near Western New York.  On Route 20 in Fredonia, N.Y. ( midway between Erie, Pa. and Buffalo, N.Y. ) there is a mattress company called Jamestown Mattress,  716-672-4140. They will make custom sized mattresses and are reasonable in pricing.  I am going there in the near future to have a different mattress made for one of the twin beds in my 2551.  They have approx. 15 styles to choose from.

As noted elsewhere on the forum; we use sheetsacks & std twin comforters on the twin beds in our 2552 (did the same thing in our 2551).  When we need to do laundry, its easy to strip off the pillow cases, shams, grab the sheetsacks & launder them.  We do the comforters less often & the factory-supplied bed covers (dry clean only!) about 2X/yr unless something warrants more frequent cleaning.  We also carry a double blow up mattress & attendant bedding for when guest sleeping arrangements are needed - plenty of room in the living rm/kitchen floor w/slide out!
