And so, as for JC and Ron, more trade-offs.
And again as for Ron, if you had a smaller V-8, plus towing a 4,000#+ toad, could result in even greater gas consumption, while giving up power that might otherwise be had for "free" or for very little cost otherwise, either as an option, or in fuel burned. Or as in the simplicity in having the standard V-10 chassis serviced otherwise.
Not to mention the feeling, when punching the "go-pedal", that you're only stepping into a pile of "cow-flop" as Billy has otherwise mentioned!

I had wondered of the possibility that being marginally powered by the 5.4L-V8 might yield the same fuel economy as the 6.8L-V10. We will never know.

Being lazy by nature, I'd rather loaf doing a job than strain. I'll stick with the V10.

Our 2007 E350 with 6.8L-V10 towing our Jeep Wrangler, I feel has more power than needed. [/quote]
Hey Ron,
When did you replace the Jeep Liberty with a Wrangler -- what model, what year? I am towing a 2003 Wrangler Sport, just curious.

Oops....senior moment there. I corrected my post. I tow a Liberty, not Wrangler. I read over and over, Wrangler Wrangler Wrangler. It just came out that way.
I think the Wrangler would make the perfect vehicle to take along on vacations, but the Liberty is better for my wife around town when not on trips. I rate our Liberty second best.

Wranglers are also quite heavy.
