General Discussion / Motorhomeless
« on: February 02, 2017, 09:27:15 am »
Hi all,
Well Gail said goodbye and thanks. She is not the only one. After 3 PCs (and the 2910 was going to be our last!!!), we have ordered a Newmar which will be delivered the first week of May so right now we are motorhomeless.

We loved Phoenix USA, the folks that build the MH and the friends that we have met along the way.

Phoenix Cruiser has the best customer service of any Co. that we have EVER dealt with so anyone who buys a PC can be rest assured that you will be taken care of.

We plan to still check out the Forum now and then. Who knows there still may be a PC down the road for us!!!

General Discussion / Norcold Class Action
« on: May 25, 2016, 01:50:54 pm »
We received notification that there is a Class Action against Norcold. It pertains to the fridge--our Model N6 manufactured from January 2009 to December 2013. The Class Action also includes the N8 and the 1200 Series.

The problem is in the cooling unit. There is a safety related defect in the cooling unit. If you observe yellow or green residue at the cooling unit, immediately turn off the unit.

The website is WWW. NorcoldClassAction.Com. To join the Class Action, if you have one of these units, you must join by Aug. 26, 2016. You can submit a claim online.

General Discussion / Safe Motorist Course
« on: January 09, 2016, 09:14:13 am »
I just completed the American Safety Council Safe Motorist Course. It is an online course that costs $14.95. It must be taken once every 3 years and it qualifies me for a discount on my RV insurance as well as my auto insurance.

The National Safety Council also has a course. I took the National Safety Council course 3 years ago but this time I took the American Safety Council course because the fee was cheaper.

I don't know if all insurance companies will issue a discount, but Geico and Hartford do.

General Discussion / Anyone replaced the pedal on Thetford toilet
« on: June 27, 2015, 09:55:31 am »
Yikes--the pedal on our Style II Thetford toilet fell off--not good. I took a mallet and tapped it back in and for now it is holding. After checking on-line, It seems that this is a problem with this toilet. I will call Thetford Monday AM. It seems like the inside channel was worn which allows the pedal to pop off.

Has anyone had this problem? If so, what was the fix?

We just noticed that we have a small hole in the screening on the retractable screen. Has anyone had their screening replaced?

Tips and Tricks / roof and slide
« on: November 18, 2014, 11:40:23 am »
Getting ready for our last trip, I found a couple problems. As I began to put out the slide, the slide jumped as though someone was holding the bottom of slide. Checking outside the slide, I found that the butyl tape used to seal the trim around the slide had oozed out from under the trim. The butyl tape had adhered to the rubber seal at the bottom of the slide. This play-dough like substance was easily peeled off. Problem solved.

Next, to give it a bath. Starting with the roof, I found the caulking on the rear where the roof meets the end cap was missing. The original leveling seal had leveled below the hole that should be filled. Inspecting further, I found screw heads had also come through the seal and the ends of the shower dome where showing. After cleaning and inspecting all the seals, I used Dicor Lap Sealant Non-Leveling to reseal and cover all exposed cracks and screw heads.

Tips and Tricks / leak at awning
« on: December 31, 2013, 09:35:37 am »
I recently found water on the floor at the angled wall behind the passenger seat. I first thought it was from the roof. After further inspection, I removed the carpeted bottom plate and dryed the area. I got a 1/2 pint spray bottle of water. Starting low at the awning, I sprayed up the awning slide. At the wedge, the water was leaking in behind the wall to the floor.

I have not tried to seal this until I talk to Kermit. I'm thinking of loosening the screws to seal behind the wedge.

Adventure Anywhere / Who Dat?????????????
« on: August 20, 2013, 04:58:14 pm »
We are now in Moab Utah at the Portal RV Resort. On our way to Moab on HWY 191 we saw another PC. We flashed our lights, waved, they waved and off we went in opposite directions.

Could it be anyone on the Forum?

This is only the 2nd PC that we have seen in 5 weeks on the road--the other one was in Florida.

This National Park has the most spectaular scenery that I ever seen. Yesterday, we toured the South Rim and this morning we drove (in the Fit) down 2200 feet to the bottom of the canyon along the Gunnison River. I can say that it was the most harrowing road that I have ever been on!!!!! If anyone gets a chance, visit this NP. Absolutely beautiful!

We are staying at the Black Canyon/Montrose KOA. This is the nicest KOA that we have stayed at.

Tomorrow, off to Mesa Verde National Park, then Arches. Grand Canyon after that and then on home.

Tips and Tricks / Distribution Box AVS050HD
« on: June 19, 2013, 01:44:40 pm »
This is a new addition to the entertainment system in the 2013 PCs. It was not on our 2011 2551. The distribution box has a built in A/V amplifier to reduce signal loss. This amplifier is powered by 12 volts from the house batteries at all times unless you unplug it. It does not shut off with the TV nor the DVD. If you are watching your power usage, you may want to unplug the power to this unit.

Adventure Anywhere / Need Help with trip west
« on: March 29, 2013, 02:05:31 pm »
Hi all,
I know that many of you have made the trip to the National Parks in the west so, if you would be so kind, I would like to pick your brains about what to see, what is a complete waste of time and other assorted trivia---I have completed our routes> I know that August/September time will be hot but we have lived in FL for 16 years now so we are used to the summer heat. Anyway, Here goes:

I10 to Fort Pickens in Pensacola for 7 days-got reservations
Natchez MS
Vicksburg MS (Civil War Battlefield)
On to Amarillo TX with one night stopover outside of Dallas
On to Colorado Springs to visit relatives: Pikes Peak Cog Railway, Gardens of the Gods, Air Force Academy, Olympic Training Center
On to Mesa Verde National Park
Arches National Park
Grand Canyon National Park
Down to Phoenix to visit daughter
Down to Tucson to Karcher Caverns State Park
The I10 back to Florida

We figure 2-3 monthes. I'm concerned about getting bored with "red rocks"--but we'll see.

So>>>>>>>>Comments please!

Thanks
Judi

Tips and Tricks / New shelf in 2910
« on: February 05, 2013, 03:34:45 pm »
The area to store dishes in our 2910 was not very efficient. After kicking around many options to utilize the space above the sink, I built a shelf unit that I think will work. The left side is a plastic coated wire corner plate holder, turned on its side. The right side is a shelf with a lip--glasses up top and bowls on the bottom. There is still more room for other "stuff" and the cabinet facing the door to the coach is now empty (more space for whatever). So with this arrangement and the new cabinet behind the driver's seat, we have plenty of storage.
