Polls / Re: Snowbirds

1.  West Michigan
2.  Florida, Texas, Arizona
3.  Just after Thanksgiving until mid or late April
4.  Four years -- We have done Florida twice and Arizona (and other "out west" locations) twice -- headed to Texas, Arizona, California, and Nevada in 2018-2019.  Prefer the SW states by far--amazing hiking and sights.
5.  We sometimes hook up with friends along the way, but find we like our independence to go and do what we want to do more.  Typically, we move around about every week or two.  We also enjoy the trip out and back as much as the time we spend at the destination.  The trip home can take 3 to 4 weeks.  Ah, retirement rocks!
6.  Thinking of becoming reverse snowbirds--finding a warm and sunny late fall/winter/early spring base and traveling the remainder of the year.

Hi, this is Karen Thompson, Treasurer, of the InterVec Phoenix Travel Club.  Sorry, we do not formally monitor the forum.  We do publish a bi-monthly newsletter for Travel Club members.  If you are interested in joining our club, please visit our website at www.intervecphoenix.org.  We'd love to have everyone as members.  We are also on Facebook and have posted information about the rally there.

Margaret Potvin and Bill Cox are coordinating the 2017 Reunion in Bend Oregon, from Monday, September 11th until Saturday, September 16th.  We confirmed reservations with the campground in mid-June and released the extra sites we had on hold.  If you would like to contact Margaret or Bill about possibly attending, the sample club newsletter on our website www.intervecphoenix.org has e-mail address for club board members.

Please remember, the 2018 Reunion will be somewhere special in the Central Time Zone.  Details to be released in the InterVec Phoenix Travel Club newsletter in early 2018.

Happy trail to all!

Ron - We will be at GNP for 8 nights in mid-August.  Do you have any other suggestions for day hikes, half-day, or shorter hikes?  Did you have any "close encounters" with bears while you were there?  We would love to see bear (and other wildlife) with the use of binoculars or a telephone lens, but no desire to have any face-to-face interactions.   Thanks for any suggestions!     tymote
