Proud New Owner of a 2006 2551 Phoenix Cruiser
« on: June 24, 2019, 06:26:28 pm »
I have been searching for about 6 months for a Phoenix Cruiser 2551 all over the United States on the internet. Some prices were to high, some with damage, some we did not like the color, or they were sold. I wanted a Phoenix Cruiser because of the quality and reliability and the smaller sizer. We finally found one on May 15th, only 65 miles from our house. My wife and I like to camp in Big Bear, Ca. We have been camping here for 25 years and happened to find our 2006 Phoenix Cruiser 2551 here.
It's The dark blue and white with decals. It came with new tires, shocks, and solar installed. I already installed a new toilet, tv, and back up camera. We are heading to Big Bear for our first outing. I plan on replacing the decals in the near future since old ones are faded and cracked. I love the size, not to big but not to smaller either. Drives better then my old class A.   !:)!

One more in SoCal  2o2

Similar story here. We  found our 2350 near Disneyland after a lengthy search in 2015. In all of our travels throughout the state we have yet to see another Phoenix Cruiser anywhere.

Are you going to Holloway’s? We might be going back again at the end of August, or maybe to PCV. Can’t wait to get back to Upper Pines next spring 🤞

Congrats from me too!

I recently read (maybe from Volkemon) the single battery compartment you have on the driver side, it will accommodate two sealed 6V AGM batteries when removing the battery tray.  I did that with our 2007 2350 with the current-day below floor level battery compartment.  The two $180 6V AGM batteries from Sams Club have made a monumental improvement with our battery reserves.  Keep that in-mind if your single battery isn't enough.

Yep!  That was likely me.    hithere

I used (2) group 31 12V batteries in paralell, and wired them correctly.  They were 100Ah, and the 6V were 200Ah... so (2) 12V in paralell or (2) 6V in series will give me the same result when wired correctly. If wired incorrectly, one 12V will always be stressed harder, leading to a shorter life.

This is correct wiring for parallel:

Note how the + on one battery is used, and the - from the other. This ensure both batteries have the same total cable resistance between them and the load/charge source.

I also have one of the old PC's , so feel free to ask away!

Volkemon,

You are correct with your wiring diagram.

PCs made starting in 2007 until recent years, had that setup with two 12V batteries wired in parallel.  In our case, the first set came factory-direct, the second set I replaced with a Walmart brand.  I made sure to select a pair with the latest matching production month to help assure they were the same age.  Both sets wired correctly had issues where after the second year, one battery became significantly weaker than the other.  The imbalance caused the better battery to over-charge (and boil-over) and the weaker battery never reaching a full charge.  When I changed to two 6V AGM batteries, the imbalance was completely resolved.  They charge and discharge in unison, much like a single battery.  With sealed AGM technology, an acid boil-over could never happen, even when the batteries are placed on their side as they are permitted.

It's like every electronic item that uses alkaline and rechargeable "D" "C" "AA" and "AAA" batteries.  They are always wired in series (like the two 6V batteries in RVs) for "best utilization" of their available power.

I wonder if two 6V AGM batteries standing upright or on their side, would fit inside your battery compartment.

Sorry serrano4657 for redirecting this welcoming thread.  Let's reel it back for you.

Yes it is the best one. We have our PC at a shop getting all the graphics replaced so it will look like new again.
