Think Steering wheel.   Not enough room to move driver's seat back far enough to clear the steering wheel.

Think dumb Don,. It can be done as Barry-Sue proved.
Sorry for my error!

When we ordered our 2012 2551, we ordered with the driver seat to swivel.

Don,

In our 2012 2551 on the E450, we clear the steering wheel with no issues!

Don,

In our 2012 2551 on the E450, we clear the steering wheel with no issues!

Wow, I am amazed!   On our 2015 model 2551,the passenger seat swivels but barely makes it past the doors and doghouse.    All the way around the passenger dash it turns but even with the seat back run over the seat, there's not a lot of clearance... I can't imagine there being room to return the seat back to normal upright with the steering wheel there.

Obviously. I was wrong.   Thank you for the enlightening!

Don

Wow thanks for the replies and photos, I know it can be done now. The thing is I need to find away to get it done I guess start by calling Elkheart. I just want the driver side done because the passenger side backs up to the dinnett. And can not be turned Leaving the passenger seat the way it is with the electric controls , both seats will remain in tac ,just need to change driver side  pedistool base to swivel  even if It means disconnecting the electric control on the driver seat . Manual adjustment  is fine .On  the P C 2100 the slide is well behind the driver seat  especially when the slide is out  it will be nice to turn the seat facing toward the back that way it faces the dinnett table and sofa .

There are controls on the power driver seat.  You likely will need a new cover plate when removing the control panel with all the controls.

Don't damage your driver power seat components in any manner because you might later value it for the ability to shift your weight during long trips.  I love the power driver seat for just that reason, helping with driver fatigue when we have to make time.

I never heard of a power driver seat that also swivels in the E-Series.  But I believe the Sprinters do.

I would call the PC factory—I know they’ve done it for a few other people because they called us for info.

Verify with them that the newer model seats are the same size at the 2012/E450.

Also, once you turn the driver’s seat around you can recline it about 75%.

We had the power driver’s seat in our 2008 model 2350 and do not miss it at all, the extra seating is so nice when we have company.

 Why not both?
These swivel bases fit multiple bolt patterns,  The top listing has 14x11 and 11.5  patterns .

If yours dont match, for $30 more the second one listed can be drilled to fit 'whatevah' you have.

They raise the seat ~ 1 1/2 inches, so make sure that leaves you enough headroom.  But this seems an easy solution to keep the power base and add swivel.

We too have the manual seats where both swivel.  Did this after Sue of Barry&Sue gave us a live demo.  Never regretted it. Only problem sometimes have to move the backup beer cooler that resides behind driver seat. :)

I can see that all the 2551 people don't understand how tight the space is in a 2100. We have the 2100 and did include the driver power seat which neither of us would give up.  Makes it so easy to change positions when drivers change as well as tweaking the position while driving. We did get a swivel seat on the passenger side even though the factory discouraged usw because of restricted range of swivel. Because of the kick wall on the dinette, it cannot swivel a full 180 degrees, but is quite sufficient to act as a nice lounger when reading, resting, extra seating for company, etc., but not for TV watching. The only 2100 TV is above the driving area. There are a few tricks to swiveling the seat (back forward and at center point of sliding track), but once mastered is quick and easy. I don't have a photo at this time.  Let me know if you want one.

Just to be clear, we cannot use our swivel seats to view the TV.  We only have the one TV in our 2551, as well.  We use the two cab seats for reading, relaxing and extra seating when we have guest.  From looking at the pictures of both the 2100 and 2551, the area behind the driver’s seat and slide out look to be the same.  I can take measurements if necessary.  I know the area is the same for a 2350 and 2551 since we owned both models.  Let me know if you want any measurements so that you can make the right decision for yourself.

Those show only for use in no-airbag at the seating position.

I see ""Approved for seats without air bags."" .  Is this what you are referring to?  That means the actual seats contain airbags, Like this:

I dont think it means 'Not for use in seating positions that are airbag protected'   I have a swivel on my passenger seat, and it has an airbag in the dash at that position.  (exactly)  I am 99.9% sure somewhere there is an instruction that states that the seat must be swiveled to the proper orientation for travel and locked there while underway if the seat position is equipped with a swivel.
